Why perimeter insulation needs closed-cell XPS
Unlike fibrous insulation or standard EPS, extruded polystyrene (XPS) features a closed-cell matrix with near-zero water absorption under diffusion and freeze-thaw cycles. On Hungarian building sites, basement perimeter walls and grade-level plinths require high compressive strength at 10 % deformation and verifiable long-term moisture resistance.
