Attic floor insulation cost 2026: what 12 700 Ft/m² gets you

In short: our paid, turnkey attic floor insulation starts at 12 700 Ft/m² gross (10 000 Ft net + 27% VAT), anywhere in Hungary. That covers standard material, delivery and installation. Below we work it out for 60, 80 and 120 m², and list what costs extra.

One thing first, because many people still call about it: the national free attic programme has ended. This price is not subsidised and has nothing to do with EKR. Why the attic is no longer free is explained in detail here.

Three worked examples: 60, 80 and 120 m²

The maths is simple: the attic floor area in square metres times 12 700 Ft. Net, that is 10 000 Ft/m², plus 27% VAT.

Attic floorNetVAT (27%)Gross
60 m²600 000 Ft162 000 Ft762 000 Ft
80 m²800 000 Ft216 000 Ft1 016 000 Ft
120 m²1 200 000 Ft324 000 Ft1 524 000 Ft

These are indicative figures for standard work. The final price and scope are fixed in the written offer after the on-site survey, not in a phone estimate.

If you are not sure of the area, the inside length of the attic times its width is a good first estimate. We measure the exact figure at the survey. You can also run your own number in the calculator at szigeteles.euconx.com.

What you get for that price

The 12 700 Ft/m² covers this build-up and work:

  • A vapour-barrier membrane at the bottom, on the ceiling. It stops moisture from the home condensing inside the wool.
  • 25 cm of glass wool with a thermal conductivity of λ 0.039 W/mK. ODE Starflex glass wool, supplied with our partners.
  • A breather membrane on top of the wool.
  • Delivery anywhere in Hungary and installation.
  • One contact at EuConX who coordinates sourcing, transport and installation.

One number if you are comparing: the thermal resistance of 25 cm of λ 0.039 wool is 0.25 / 0.039 ≈ 6.4 m²K/W. That is for the wool layer only. The figure for the whole ceiling also depends on the existing structure.

We check the exact position of the membranes and the details of every attic at the survey.

What costs extra

Four things are not in the per-m² price. We assess them separately and list them in the written offer:

  • Clearing. If things are stored in the attic, clearing the area is a separate item. It is cheapest if you clear it before the survey.
  • Repairs. If we see leaks, damp, mould or a damaged ceiling, that has to be fixed first. We do not insulate over it.
  • A walkway. The standard build-up cannot be walked on and is not for storage. If you want to use the attic, it needs a separately designed walking surface.
  • Difficult access. If there is no fixed stair or loft hatch and the only way up is a ladder, we look at that separately too.

What can change the total

  • The exact area. Estimated and measured square metres rarely match to the last metre.
  • Existing insulation. It is not necessarily a problem. We check its condition at the survey and suggest a solution.
  • The state of the ceiling. Damp or repairs mean extra preparation.

How it works

1. Request and first call. We review your details and come back with possible survey dates.

2. On-site survey. We check the ceiling, access, signs of moisture and any existing insulation.

3. Written offer and schedule. We fix the price, scope and installation date.

4. Installation and handover. At the end we go through the finished build-up with you.

Material from Türkiye usually reaches Hungary in 3–5 days. We give you the exact installation date in writing after the survey.

How to compare two offers

If you ask others for prices, check these four things before putting the per-m² figures side by side:

  • Gross or net? 10 000 Ft net and 12 700 Ft gross are the same price.
  • How thick, and what lambda? 25 cm at λ 0.039 is not the same as 15 cm of an unnamed product.
  • Vapour barrier below and breather membrane above? If not, you are not comparing the same job.
  • What is excluded? Clearing, repairs, walkway, access. Ask for it in writing.

Common questions

How much does it cost to insulate a 100 m² attic floor?

For standard work, 1 270 000 Ft gross (1 000 000 Ft net + 270 000 Ft VAT). The final amount is set after the survey.

Does 12 700 Ft/m² include VAT?

Yes. 12 700 Ft/m² is the gross price: 10 000 Ft net + 27% VAT.

Is attic insulation still free in Hungary in 2026?

No. The national free attic programme has ended. Our offer is paid and independent of EKR.

Can I walk on the attic afterwards?

The standard build-up cannot be walked on and is not for storage. That needs a separately designed walkway, which is an extra item.

How long does it take?

We agree the date based on the survey, your acceptance of the offer, material sourcing and current capacity, and confirm it in writing.

Do I have to send photos?

No. Photos help with the first call, but the on-site survey makes the decision.
