This article is for contractors, developers, importers and merchants in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe who buy glass wool by the truckload. We start from one real truck and show how to turn it into your own calculation. The number changes with the packing and the thickness, so the end of the article lists what to ask for in the loading plan. XPS packs per truck and the general sourcing process are in our guide to sourcing insulation from Turkey.
One real truck: 5,224.8 m² on one delivery note
The delivery note behind these numbers is dated 27 November 2025 and covers one truck. The load is ODE Starflex 039 glass wool blanket, 125 mm thick, in hyperpack (HP) packing. One roll is 1.2 × 7 m, which is 8.4 m². The note states a total of 5,224.8 m², shipped as 22 pallets and 94 loose rolls.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Product | ODE Starflex 039, 125 mm, HP packing |
| One roll | 1.2 × 7 m = 8.4 m² |
| Total | 5,224.8 m², 622 rolls |
| On pallets | 22 pallets × 24 rolls = 4,435.2 m² |
| Loose rolls | 94 rolls = 789.6 m² |
| One pallet | 24 rolls = 201.6 m² |
| Attic floor at 25 cm (2 × 12.5 cm) | about 2,612 m² |
Source: EuConX delivery note, November 2025, one truck. Rolls per pallet is calculated and is not printed on the note: (622 − 94) ÷ 22 = 24.
Roll, pallet, truck: how to calculate
The note gives square metres and counts only, so we worked out the rest. The method has three steps and fits any order.
First the roll: 1.2 m × 7 m = 8.4 m². The ordered area converts to a roll count: 5,224.8 ÷ 8.4 = 622 rolls. Second the pallet: the 22 pallets carry 622 − 94 = 528 rolls, which is 24 rolls per pallet, or 201.6 m². Third the truck: 22 pallets, which is 4,435.2 m², plus 94 loose rolls, which is 789.6 m². The loose rolls are about 15 % of the load and fill the space left after the pallets.
At delivery you reconcile two counts: pallets and loose rolls. If their total does not match the square metres on the note, report it before unloading.
Hyperpack and loose rolls
According to the ODE brochure, Starflex hyperpack (HP) packing allows more goods in the same volume, enables pallet loading and unloading, allows outdoor storage and lowers stock cost. During transport and storage, protect the pack from direct sunlight, store it horizontally on a flat surface without point loads, and keep it away from solvents, petroleum solvents, bleaching and corrosive chemicals.

How much attic floor does one truck cover?
The EuConX attic build-up uses 25 cm of glass wool in two 12.5 cm layers (2 × 12.5 cm). With 125 mm rolls, you therefore need two square metres of roll for each square metre of attic floor. The truck above covers 5,224.8 ÷ 2 = 2,612.4 m², about 2,612 m² of attic floor.
A worked example: 1,000 m² of attic floor at 25 cm needs 2,000 m² of 125 mm roll. 2,000 ÷ 8.4 = 238.1, rounded up to 239 rolls. We round up so that nothing is missing. The data for ODE Starflex are on the product page: 2 × 12.5 cm, λD 0.039 W/(m·K).
For Hungarian homeowners, EuConX offers the attic insulation at 12,700 HUF/m² gross (10,000 HUF/m² net). It includes the EuConX BK45 vapour barrier, 25 cm of glass wool and the EuConX BD70 breathable membrane. Walkways are extra on request, clearing, repairs and difficult access cost extra, and the final price follows a survey. A contractor partner installs nationwide. The build-up is explained in the 25 cm glass wool guide (in Hungarian) and the price in the EKR attic insulation price article (in Hungarian). The offer is at szigeteles.euconx.com.
Other thicknesses, other loads
The number above applies to one product and one order. Thinner rolls generally put more square metres on a truck, but we have not measured this, so we give no figure. We also do not claim that 22 pallets and 94 loose rolls repeat at another thickness.
Each order gets its own loading plan: which thickness, how many pallets, how many loose rolls, and where they go. Ask for it before the truck leaves and fit the order quantity to it. Ask us for the loading plan for your thickness.
Before the seal: what to check
Once the truck is sealed it stays closed until customs and unloading, so the factory is the easiest place to spot a mismatch. We wrote a separate article on the checks before the seal. For glass wool, check this:
- The product name and thickness match the order.
- The count of pallets and loose rolls matches the loading plan.
- The film is intact, with no torn or soaked pack.
- The load is secured and the packs cannot shift.
On the declaration of performance (DoP), look for the EN 13162 data, including thermal conductivity. The ODE glass wool DoP is listed under Sources.
Transit and lead time
By road from Turkey, our transit time is 3–5 days, about 5 on average. Customs clearance typically takes 2–3 hours. The lead time from order to delivery is typically 1–2 weeks, and the quote fixes the actual time. Road and container options are compared in our logistics article, and the container shipping calculator article (in Hungarian) works through the costs.
Storage and unloading on site
HP packing is designed for pallet loading and unloading. If the site has no forklift or pallet truck, say so when you request the quote. Store the rolls as ODE instructs: horizontally, on a flat surface, protected from the sun. Storage on a building site is covered in our storage article (in Hungarian).
What EuConX supplies
EuConX supplies the material. A contractor partner installs the attic insulation, nationwide in Hungary. In 2025–26 we delivered 1.1 million m² glass wool and 4.3 million m² membranes.

Frequently asked questions
How many m² of glass wool fit in a truck?
One real EuConX truck in November 2025 carried 5,224.8 m² of ODE Starflex 039 at 125 mm: 22 pallets and 94 loose rolls, 622 rolls in total. At another thickness or packing the figure differs, and the loading plan for the order gives it.
How many rolls are on a pallet?
On this truck, 24. The delivery note does not print it, so we calculated it: (622 − 94) ÷ 22 = 24 rolls, 201.6 m² per pallet. For another product and thickness the loading plan gives the count.
Why are there loose rolls next to the pallets?
Loose rolls fill the space left after the pallets. On this truck there were 94 loose rolls, 789.6 m², about 15 % of the load. At delivery, reconcile both the pallets and the loose rolls.
How many m² of attic floor does one truck of glass wool cover?
At 25 cm, in two 12.5 cm layers, the example truck covers 5,224.8 ÷ 2 = 2,612.4 m², about 2,612 m². 1,000 m² of attic floor needs 2,000 m² of 125 mm roll, which is 239 rolls rounded up.
Can glass wool be stored outdoors?
According to ODE, hyperpack packing allows outdoor storage. Protect the pack from direct sunlight, store it horizontally on a flat surface without point loads, and keep it away from solvents, bleaching and corrosive chemicals.
What should I check before the seal?
The product name and thickness against the order, and the pallets and loose rolls against the loading plan. Check that the film is intact and the load is secured.
How long does the truck take to arrive?
By road from Turkey, transit is 3–5 days, about 5 on average, and customs clearance typically takes 2–3 hours. From order to delivery it is typically 1–2 weeks, and the quote fixes the actual time.
