Turkish insulation plants run at a scale Hungarian lines do not. ODE, and the other mills we audit, already sell CE product into the Union. The remaining work is the truck, ATR, and a Hungarian importer who answers the phone when a pallet is short.
Why Turkey, not “cheap East”
- Glasswool and XPS with CE, and in ODE’s case EUCEB and EPD, are normal output, not a special export batch.
- ATR covers originating industrial goods, so duty is not the line that kills the quote.
- Lead times from a Gebze or Tekirdağ plant to a Hungarian site are measured in days to a couple of weeks, not a Far East sailing.
The price gap we publish is 20–30 % under domestic lists when the load is a real truck, not a sample box.
Logistics is the actual risk
A factory that can make wool cannot book a Hungarian slot. We do. Customs, ATR, and the last kilometre sit in one file. If your current broker has never seen an A.TR, budget time for the first load.
Quality and EKR
EKR contractors need the DoP in Hungarian and a build-up the obligated party already listed. Starflex 25 cm plus BBarrier is the attic pack we have delivered. That is a supply fact, not an EKR approval.
Direct import versus the merchant chain
A merchant is right when you need one pallet tomorrow. Direct import is right when you know the m² for a street or a hall. Mixing both without telling either side is how double orders happen.
