ODE Starflex vs domestic glasswool: a side-by-side for Hungarian sites

The insulation spec on a Hungarian tender is usually λ, thickness, reaction-to-fire, and which certificates travel with the pallet. That is the comparison that matters. Marketing names do not.

Why the glasswool choice shows up in the price and the file

Attic and partition jobs in Hungary are still mostly glasswool. The λ value sets how many millimetres you need for the U-value in the energy calculation. The certificate pack decides whether an EKR obligated party will accept the delivery. A cheaper roll that arrives without EUCEB or a Hungarian-language DoP is not cheaper once the site stops.

EuConX Iso Kft. imports ODE Starflex from Turkey and puts the CE, EUCEB and EPD file on the same truck as the wool. Domestic brands are available through every merchant. The question is not “Turkish or Hungarian”. It is which pack clears the energy auditor and the customs desk without a second order.

What ODE Starflex actually is

ODE Starflex is glasswool. Ground-truth factory data we hold: λ = 0.039 W/mK, CE marked, EUCEB certified, EPD S-P-00671, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 at the plant. The Hungarian DoP on file is DOP_HU_UVEGGYAPOT_Starflex.pdf.

For the free attic programme the usual build-up we ship is 2 × 12.5 cm = 25 cm Starflex, with BBarrier BD70 on the warm side and BK45 on the cold side. That stack is what GetEco-type EKR contractors have been installing, not a custom lab recipe.

Against a typical domestic roll

A Hungarian-made glasswool at λ 0.037–0.040 is in the same thermal band. You will not win a job by claiming 20 % better lambda. You win it if:

• the DoP is in Hungarian on day one
• EUCEB is on the pack, not “available on request”
• the price landed in Kecskemét or Budapest is 20–30 % under the merchant list, which is the band we quote when ATR and the truck are in the same file
• replacement rolls exist in the next sailing, not in eight weeks

Fire class and water absorption have to be read off the current DoP, not off this article. We do not invent numbers that are not on the certificate.
