Bonus Premium F and Gold Plus: two stone-wool products, different façade systems

The short answer

Bonus Premium F and Gold Plus are both stone-wool products, but the manufacturer pages indicate different façade contexts. Premium F is described for rendered external thermal insulation (ETICS). Gold Plus is listed for applications that can include ventilated or exterior-cladding systems, subject to the precise system and product documents. Different build-ups, fixings and evidence may apply, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable.

Premium F: rendered external insulation

In an ETICS assembly, the substrate, adhesive, mechanical fixings, reinforcement mesh, base coat, render and fire details work as one system. A manufacturer-listed thermal-conductivity range is a product property; the wall’s thermal transmittance depends on thickness and the complete build-up. Request the current DoP, technical sheet and system approval for the selected product and render system.

Gold Plus: check the exact cladding build-up

For a ventilated façade, brackets, cavity, insulation retention, fire barriers, subframe and outer cladding all matter. Confirm intended use, thickness, mechanical properties, fire classification and compatibility in the current Gold Plus documentation and approved system details. Similar material composition or lambda values do not make a product suitable for a different installation. Do not use one in the other’s system unless the exact product and system documents expressly allow it.

Procurement checklist

State the façade system, location, quantity, thickness, fixing method, accessories, approved product, palletisation and delivery schedule in the quotation request. Obtain current DoP/TDS for the precise variants and approval for the complete build-up. Record the approved system before purchase

Put the exact product name, thickness, facing, manufacturing code and current DoP/TDS revision into the project specification. For ETICS, name the compatible adhesive, anchors, reinforcement mesh and render components approved as part of the system. For a ventilated or clad façade, resolve brackets, subframe, cavity, insulation retention and fire barriers as a separate assembly.

Compare quotations on more than insulation price per square metre: accessories, cutting allowance, packaging and delivery terms can change the total. A similar density or lambda value does not confer system approval. If the manufacturer assigns different intended uses to the products, procurement should not switch them without the project designer’s acceptance and supporting documents.
